I worked with Carol McKirdy on the ‘Sudanese People in the Sutherland Shire – a Moving Community’, oral history project.
Carol was great to work with; always meeting stakeholder requirements, well prepared and considerate of the needs of the interviewees.

It took me a long time to talk about the war, especially to my family. I'm glad what I know is recorded.

I engaged Carol McKirdy from History Herstory, as an oral history trainer on the strength of recommendations. The project 'Villages of the Heart' needed someone with a high level of professional oral history and teaching knowledge, sensitivity towards potential participants and the ability to work with a variety of community members. I found Carol exceeded her reputation both in teaching skills, depth of oral history knowledge, as well as understanding of individual and community dynamics. I would not hesitate to engage her again in any oral history project The Rowan Tree Heritage and Cultural Services worked on in the future.
